AR Filter

Instagram Face & Augmented Reality Filter

Scroll

Intro

In autumn 2019, Facebook launched a tool that until then had only been available to a few beta testers and in-house creators. This developer software is Spark AR. AR stands for Augmented Reality and it is a 3D-based programme with tracking capabilities to create face filters. Since Spark AR has been available to everyone free of charge, Instagram filters are experiencing a boom/hype, as the platform is literally flooded with sometimes more, sometimes less creative filters. While face filters may only be a passing trend, augmented reality technology is definitely not, and it's worth keeping up with current developments.

Abstract

Over the last year I have been working on a variety of AR effects. Most notably face filters, camera effects and tracking filters. Plane tracking, object tracking and face tracking allow users to place and interact with objects in an augmented reality.

Documentation

During my time at the multi-platform network Studio71 of the ProSiebenSat1 Group, I worked intensively in the social media and augmented reality filter area. In addition to assignments for various influencers, I was able to try out a lot of different methods and techniques and research in the field of AR, as this area is very much in demand and can sometimes generate a lot of reach, impressions and interactions.
